StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty In addition to being the preeminent competitive strategy game of the last decade, StarCraft II deserves credit for rethinking how a traditional RTS campaign is structured. Heart of the Swarm is a good example of this, but the human-centric Wings of Liberty instalment is the place to start: an inventive adventure that mixes up the familiar formula at every stage. From zombie defence scenarios to planets that flood with lava every few minutes, you’re forced to learn and relearn StarCraft’s basic elements as you go.

Humans ended up losing the war against aliens, and now the remaining survivors have to do what it takes to fight back. XCOM 2 is a game unlike any other, as you lead the resistance against the aliens that have invaded Earth. What sets it apart is the fact that if a soldier dies, he/she remains that way for good. This ensures that the game remains tense and you are forced to think tactfully to make the best of what you have available. The key to make this possible is by taking advantage of the different classes and abilities. The game is visually demanding, which means you will need a recent Mac with a powerful graphics card. But then again, the price is worth the admission.

Case in point is The Wolf Among Us: The Second Season, which was announced last year for a 2018 release. The trouble is that we haven’t heard much about season two since that announcement. We do know that Adam Harrington and Erin Yvette will return to voice Bigby and Snow White, respectively. It’s also been reported that Season Two will not resolve all of Season One’s cliffhangers. Instead, it will simply continue the narrative related to Bigby and Snow White, and will again be based on Bill Willingham's Fables comic book series. As such, fans of this gritty twist on classic fairy tales can expect more of the same cinema noire storytelling with plenty of style and puzzles to solve. Hopefully we get more details on the game’s creative direction and release schedule soon, perhaps at E3 in June.
